Become a Cohort Mentor

Share your college knowledge. Pass along your insights. Pay it forward, and have fun doing it!

A Cohort mentor is someone who helps high school students navigate the college admissions process. You’re like the cool older sibling we wish we all had when we were applying to college. You take the stress, anxiety, and self-doubt out of applying for college.

What’s a Cohort Mentor?

You’ll guide high school students through the college application process with the help of Cohort HQ. You’ll lead a 2-hour monthly session on the college application process, provide weekly office hours, and do occasional offline review of provided materials.

What do I do as a Cohort mentor?

Cohort is a community of mentors, students, and support staff working together to make college admissions accessible to all. We’re all working to help students get the most factual, up-to-date advice on presenting the best version of themselves to great-fit colleges.

What’s Cohort?

What do our current mentors love about Cohort?

“I've always enjoyed teaching but have never made the time for it. Being a Cohort Mentor has 100% scratched that itch for me.”

“I would do Cohort for free, except they pay me.”

“I'm never stressed about Cohort. It's well organized...I just show up and give advice!”

“I've loved the bonds I've begun to form with some of my students. I'm nervous but really excited to see where they get in!”
